Position

We are seeking a professional to join the legal team within the Office of General Counsel.  The Office of General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice to all divisions of the Comptroller’s Office and handling specific matters assigned by the Comptroller. While reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Administrative Specialist will assist and perform tasks for all members of the Office General Counsel team.



Major responsibilities will include:
  • Perform general clerical and administrative duties: answer incoming calls, process board mailings, open and date mail, type correspondence and reports, notarize documents    
  • Serve as the Office of General Counsel’s point-person for various officewide events, councils, or planning committees
  • Write drafts of certain documents or correspondence; review and edit legal documents and summaries; complete legal forms; edit various written material for typographical errors, grammatical errors, logic and organization  
  • Perform records management functions by maintaining documentation of files and assisting with database maintenance
  • Assist the attorneys in tracking legislation and any other related legislative projects    
  • Process travel, CLE registrations, and expense reports for attorneys  
  • Assist attorneys with compiling and formatting legal publications into the appropriate technological format  
  • Maintain and continually improve individual contribution to a service-oriented culture that supports customers and leadership  
  • Seize process improvement opportunities to streamline workflows and improve accuracy
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with executive staff, team members, and members of the public
  • Utilize a high degree of tact and diplomacy in all interactions
  • Perform all tasks in a timely and accurate manner
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Attention to detail and a strong willingness to learn from the feedback of attorneys are crucial to success in this role. The qualifications listed below are representative of the competency, knowledge, skill, and ability required to be a successful candidate for this position.

A degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.  Other combinations of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for consideration.

A successful employee in this role possesses strong communications skills and must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Candidates must be able to create and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with high-profile stakeholders while representing the office.


Compensation
